Bespoke Solutions Tailored to the Client's Needs

Dispute Resolution

Our office represents individuals and their interests in a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters before the South Carolina Courts. In multi-jurisdictional matters, we assist clients with legal strategy with respect to actions external to South Carolina and work with local counsel in the pursuit of client objectives. We represent clients in business disputes, bankruptcy, creditor/debtor claims, real estate litigation, fiduciary disputes, tax controversy, and probate estate litigation. We maintain strong working relationships with professionals across the United States and in key foreign jurisdictions, enabling our office to ensure our clients receive the highest levels of service possible, whether those problems arise within or without South Carolina.

Estate Planning

We prepare comprehensive wills and trusts and counsel clients on the formation and governance of trusts, family limited liability companies, conservatorships, and other private wealth planning structures. We also advise clients on asset protection strategies for the preservation of individual wealth from exposures to divorce, litigation, unknown future creditors, incapacity, breach of privacy, and non-financial investment risk. Our advice and counsel are focused on providing solutions tailored to the client’s particular situation, emphasizing the use of structures that deliver efficient administration and simplicity in design to afford clients the lowest cost burden relative to their planning objectives.

Business Transactions

Our clients' commercial activities are an important part of our practice. We regularly advise and assist individuals with the formation, structuring, management, and operation of all types of limited liability entities under South Carolina law. For our clients with multi-jurisdictional business interests, we counsel and advise on their risk management issues and federal regulatory compliance. We also work with clients facing finance related problems, advising on reorganizations, recapitalization, and restructurings.

At the strategic level, our clients rely on our office to help them filter the signal from the noise coming out of the particular market they serve. Assisting our clients in understanding what emerging opportunities may be presented in that signal is part of this work. This includes advising our clients on regulatory compliance with respect to emerging opportunities.  Five such emerging areas of particular interest are privacy; blockchain technology; natural resources; infrastructure development; and environmental stewardship.
